Log Jam Jamboree
In the early pioneer days, as the settlers moved west they needed wood, lots of wood, to build their cabins, towns, wagons, furniture, and railroads. Now, the men that cut all this timber and got it in from the forest were called "lumberjacks." Lots of "tall tales" were told about the exploits of these men, but it is no pile of saw dust that they were some of the strongest and toughest chaps around.
These Fellows would work high up in the mountains chopping and cutting down trees with their saws and axes from daylight to dusk. You could hear them shouting "t-i-m-b-e-r" from miles around, and then the tree would come crashing to the ground with an earth shaking thud! They would then buck up the logs into useable lengths and roll them down to the river where they would float them to the sawmill. Sometimes the logs would get all fouled and jammed together. This became known as a "log jam" and the entire logging camp would rally to remedy the situation.
prepare now for the excitement of an old time logging camp gone wild here at Treasure Mountain. It will be loads of fun as the "loggers" face off against the "lumberjacks" in some tall tree top'n team competition. So, buck-up and be as tough as bark-on-a-tree so to keep up with all that is going on here on the mountain this summer.
You may find yourself rolling in tall timber with other great activities that you find around camp to do as well! So, here's hope'n we see you in our neck of the woods this summer for a great tree-sawing, log-chopping, timber clearing good time!
